A bunded warehouse is suited to sites that need to store larger quantities of hazardous materials than can be accommodated within individual drum or IBC storage units. They can provide a dedicated, controlled storage area for packaged chemicals while incorporating secondary containment to help manage leaks and spills.
Chemstore bunded warehouses can be designed around the materials being stored, including the required capacity, chemical compatibility, segregation, ventilation, fire protection, temperature control and access arrangements. Internal racking and storage layouts can also be configured to suit drums, IBCs, pallets and other packaged materials.
Because hazardous material storage requirements vary from site to site, the specification should be based on the substances, quantities, Safety Data Sheets, operational activities and findings of the site’s risk assessment. Where applicable, environmental licence conditions, fire-safety requirements and other regulatory considerations should also be taken into account.
