Walk In Fire Rated Store
The FireVault storage module provides the highest level of safety instantly for the secure storage of all flammable materials. All areas of industry currently employ flammables in their processes. and rom petroleum products to industrial chemicals.
Manufactured to the highest standards utilising only those fireproofing materials, which have been tested to BS 476, part 22, FireVault Stores comply with all relevant Health & Safety Regulations, Insurance requirements and environmental standards such as IS310, ISO 14001, EMAS and IPC licensing.
Standard features include, full width spillage collection sumps, up to 5 hour fire rated composite wall panels, insulated self-closing doors, intumescent ventilation panels, fixed shelving, anti-static grounding connections, fully welded, leak tested bunds, galvanized grid mesh floors. A range of optional extras are also available for the Firevault units including ex-rated electrical fittings.
All Firevault units are delivered to site fully assembled and ready for immediate use. No special site works are required and at any future time, they can easily be relocated by forklift truck or crane, thereby offering excellent flexibility.
The most common Firevaults are the Walk In Stores used for small container storage (25L cans, Winchesters etc).
Chemstore continued a brilliant working relationship with Enterprise Ireland this week and were delighted to be exhibiting at ADIPEC 2016.
The Irish pavilion stand organised by Rachel Kouyoumdjis, Enterprise Ireland’s market adviser in Abu Dhabi provided a fantastic platform for six Irish companies to present offerings to the Oil & Gas market in the region.
It was Chemstore’s second time exhibiting after a very successful show in 2015. This year proved no different as the company was able to meet with key people from global companies in the Oil & Gas industry such as Halliburton, ADNOC and Technip to name a few.
In a depressed Oil & Gas market it was refreshing to hear of the opportunities available for the Firevault brand in an Opex and maintenance spending market and the future looks very promising for the product range in the UAE.
It was also a fantastic opportunity to meet with the Irish Ambassador for the UAE Patrick Hennessy and hear his valuable insight on market conditions in the region and also where the opportunities exist.

Park Road, Rickmansworth
London Underground based in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire approached Chemstore to supply storage for 4 No. sites.
The units would be required to store track maintenance equipment and chemicals on site. The units would be needed at the Rickmansworth, Neasden, Edgware Road and Ruislip London Underground depots.
London Underground needed a storage solution which would enable compliance with HSE & Government legislation for the storage of flammable liquids and Hazardous Chemicals.
Kevin Mitchell, our UK design engineer, helped to develop a design that enabled the client to successfully store highly flammable liquid drums within a Zone I atmosphere. This was achieved by incorporating the following: –

The Firevault store was manufactured with a fully certified secondary containment bund and certified 90 minute fire rated cladding throughout.
The stores fit for purpose design has ensured the client is now storing its hazardous chemicals in a fully compliant fire rated enclosure. The Firevault design has enabled the customer to reduce risk, liability and downtime in its process.
As part of the Wall Family Enterprise of companies, Technology Supplies had undertaken a centralisation project for all UK distribution. A new purpose built 78,000 square foot Distribution Centre was manufactured at the existing Technology Supplies site in Shrewsbury. One of the businesses re-locating to Shrewsbury, supplies large amounts of small containers of flammable liquids to educational establishments.
Because of the highly flammable hazards of these products it was extremely important that an efficient method was identified to enable the safe storage and picking of these products. Following lengthy consultations with both insurers and health and safety consultants, a 120-minute fire rated solution was specified as a requirement. Because of the live working environment, various contractors still building the extension, racking being installed and the requirement to situate the solution on a mezzanine floor, a ready-built solution was not feasible.
After initial meetings on site between Chemstore’s site engineer and Technology Supplies’ warehouse and distribution manager, specification ideas for a fully bespoke solution to the flammable storage requirements were drafted over a number of months. Chemstore designed a solution to the issues highlighted above by developing a ‘Flat pack firevault’ which could be delivered to site in palletised form and assembled by a team of fabricators on site in just three days. The firevault is constructed with a certified two-hour fire rating as specified by the client company insurers and health and safety consultants. The unit was also specified with ATEX rated lighting and air extraction.

They designed a purpose built flat packed unit that could be shipped to us in pieces. This enabled the unit to be lifted up onto our mezzanine floor and assembled in situ. The unit is fitted with extraction and lighting. The end result is that we now have a purpose built Flammable liquid store incorporated into our pick routes which enables us to pick and store these flammables in the most efficient way. From initial consultations through to delivery, installation, testing and sign off, I could not of been more happy with the way in which the whole project went. PRESS RELEASE: Firevault Systems launches the world’s first DNV2.7-2 Certified Flammable Materials Safety Store
Firevault Systems, the flammable storage expert, has launched Firevault™ DNV 2.7-2 Certified Flammable Materials Store, the world’s first flammable materials safety store to be certified to DNV2.7-2.
Designed to enhance offshore equipment safety standards, DNV2.7-2 is increasingly becoming a minimum requirement of oil and gas operators as the sector strives to improve safety standards. The standard was revised and extended in 2013 to include all temporary offshore service equipment which may be mounted on a frame or inside a container.
The Firevault™ DNV 2.7-2 Certified Flammable Materials Store came about after Firevault Systems successfully supplied a bespoke fire rated store to the UK oil and gas service provider, Mechtool. The unit was tested and approved by a Mechtool engineer before it was installed on the Golden Eagle Oil Rig in the North Sea.
Realising the demand for quality fire rated stores in the oil and gas sector, Firevault Systems worked closely with oil and gas maintenance operators including Bilfinger, Stork, Wood Group and Kaefer to design a product which would optimise safety while reducing wastage and costs. The next step was to get the product certified to a level used and accepted in the oil and gas industry which was when the company applied for Design Verification Approval for the 2.7-2 Module.
Explains Firevault Systems Marketing Director, Shane Carroll: “It has been a lengthy process to achieve this certification, taking 18 months in total but the fact that we are the first storage expert to achieve this reinforces our commitment to producing the highest quality flammable safety stores.
“The level of detail required by the standard was staggering. Every last nut, bolt, cable, clamp and component had to have a backup certificate and file. We have ended up with a document which has over 500 pages of text, drawings and certificates.
“We finally received approval for the first certified flammable materials store in the world in December 2015. We are also confident that it will remain that way for a considerable time to come.”
As part of the R&D process Firevault Systems also needed to source or manufacture a fire rated panel for use in the module which had to be certified and approved to the IMO FTP A60 standard.
The company decided to manufacture its own panel which passed the required test at the EXOVA Warrington Laboratory in October 2015 and is now the first panel to be tested and certified to this standard in the UK and Ireland.
This certified double skin panel is now used in all Firevault Systems units with the testing process available to view on the company’s YouTube channel: link where it shows the panel being heated on one side to 1067 degrees with the primer paint on the other side not showing any visual degradation (panel 60mm).
Concludes Shane: The DNV2.7-2 certification brings the Firevault brand to the next level of safe structural certification. In achieving this certification standard, it positions Firevault Systems as the number one provider of certified, fire rated storage solutions for hazardous materials in the world.
